Backyard Travel, the online boutique travel agency specialising in unique and insider tours to Asia, has revealed details of a new tailor-made Myanmar tour entitled ‘Macleod Island: Myanmar Beach Retreat’
The four-day, three-night vacation allows travellers the opportunity to explore the picturesque Macleod Island, part of the remote Mergui Archipelago, off the west coast of Myanmar. The stunning island is exceptionally quiet, secluded, and ideal for travellers wanting to recharge their batteries, off the main tourist trail.
Travellers are free to spend their time relaxing on the soft white sandy beaches that surround the island, or can explore the thick tropical rainforest, filled with exotic birds, on a guided hike. The region is also famous for its wonderful fresh seafood offering Myanmar’s best lobster, squid and crabs, and dinner is included nightly at the relaxing Myanmar Andaman Resort, where travellers will also stay.
Macleod Island is surrounded by warm turquoise coloured waters, full of pristine coral and an abundance of tropical fish. On the final full day, travellers will venture out into these waters on a snorkelling trip that includes all equipment, lunch and drinks. The resort also has a PADI registered dive centre, so those wanting to explore the magnificent marine life further have the option to do so.
“Macleod Island and the Mergui Archipelago are the perfect place for a discreet beach break in paradise,” said Backyard Travel’s general manager Maeve Nolan. “The whole area is an unearthed gem and the amazing natural beauty combined with wonderful local Myanmar hospitality would make for an unforgettable experience.”
