North America adventure travel specialists West Adventures are branching out from their successful Canada and USA tours to take guests south of the border.

Hello Mexico! launches in October 2017, and small group accompanied tours will then be departing monthly from Mexico City.

Guests will visit the magnificent site of Chichen Itza at dawn

In a 12-night itinerary, which goes beyond the tacos and margaritas, guests are invited to discover Mexico’s cactus-covered mountains and colonial cities, water holes and waterfalls, as well the ancient sites of the Toltecs, Aztecs, Zapotecs, and Mayas. The focus is on experiencing Mexico, meeting Mexicans, and immersing oneself in Mexican culture, though key sightseeing destinations are included in the programme as well.

Highlights include:

• Climbing the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon at Teotihuacan

• A night at the Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling)

• Tastings of Mezcal, grasshoppers, and mole

• Hiking and swimming at Hierve el Agua, a petrified waterfall

• Jungle trek at Palenque, surrounded by howler monkey and toucan

• Dawn at Chichen Itze

• Chilling on the beach at Merida.

Mexico City, just one of the vibrant cities included on the tour

Guests join the tour in vibrant Mexico City and end up on the coast at stunning Playa Del Carmen. There is a maximum of 16 adventurous travellers in any group, and the option to share accommodation with someone else of the same gender to avoid paying a single room supplement. This makes it the ideal option for single travellers who want to explore Mexico with the comfort of a guide and the sociability of a group, but don’t want to break the bank.

The focus of the tour is on experiencing Mexican culture and art

Founder Ron Geddert launched West Adventures in 2016 to deliver the kind of tours he craved, but had never quite been able to find – those which enable travellers to get under the skin of a destination in the company of like-minded people. West Adventures’ local tour leaders are passionate about their region and want guests to see it with local eyes. Guests eat local foods, try local sports, stay in small local hotels, and travel by various means of local transport, including minibuses, public buses, and taxis.

Full details of the Hello Mexico! itinerary are online at The first tour departs on 30 October 2017, and prices start from US$1,419 (land only).
