Award-winning solo traveller hotel, The Mistral, opens for the 2018 season in April with prices frozen for the second year in a row.

Set on the idyllic island of Crete at Maleme just outside the harbour town of Chania, The Mistral has also launched its new brochure with a range of offers, excursions, spa treatments and tempting dishes from its restaurant, which serves the finest Cretan cuisine. The season, which runs from 24 April through to 16 October, also features a selection of themed weeks as well as the opportunity to simply relax by the two pools in the Mediterranean sunshine. The Mistral Spa also offers an innovative range of treatments and therapies.

The Mistral Hotel features 35 stylish double rooms, each for single occupancy

Offering sociable holidays for the independent solo traveller, the hotel is run by the Gialamarakis family and features 35 stylish double rooms, each for single occupancy, but with no single supplement.

“We are very much looking forward to the 2018 season, welcoming back old friends and new guests alike. More than anything, we enjoy offering the best of Cretan hospitality with comfortable rooms, a relaxing bar and discreet poolside environment, and a menu that delivers the finest home-cooked Mediterranean food and wine,” owner Vassilis Gialamarakis told Essential Journeys.

Themed weeks for this year include the popular walking weeks of 8-15 May and 2-9 October, along with the Culture and Spring Flowers week from 24-30 April. “We also love to showcase this part of western Crete with a selection of excellent value excursions,” said Vassilis. “We take our guests to secluded beaches, magical tavernas and historic sites that they may not otherwise be aware of. Our family and our staff are Cretan to the core and with their excellent local knowledge know all the best places to visit and eat.”

Alongside the established Mistral Hotel, now in its 26th year, the Gialamarakis family also run 11 luxury villas overlooking nearby Kissamos Bay, with eight on the hillside and three new beachfront residences.

As a leading specialist in providing holidays for independent single travellers, The Mistral Hotel was named winner in the coveted Packaged Trips section in the inaugural awards organised by the Solo Traveler website in 2017.

Prices start from 874 euros for a week, half board and not including flights. Discounts of 15 per cent are available for stays of 14 nights or more.
