If you think the fun stops once Christmas is over, then think again! Monarch are running Arctic Experience trips to Lapland through January and February
The Arctic Experience offers 3- and 4-night trips to either Levi Fell or Yllas, and includes husky dog sled, reindeer sleigh and snowmobile ride mini-experiences, as well as snowshoeing. There are also opportunities to view the amazing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) when the weather conditions are right on an evening excursion to the Snow Village, where guests can even upgrade their visit to include a stay in the Snow Hotel, find out more here. Levi Ski Resort has 25 ski lifts serving 40km of floodlit slopes and is the largest ski resort in Finland. The resort is ideal for every level of skier, with the slopes less crowded than the resorts further south in other European resorts.
On day one you will fly from Gatwick to Kittila, where you will collect your ski suit and boots before heading to your hotel, with time to explore the resort before dinner. The following morning, guests head out into unspoilt woodlands to enjoy an exciting morning of activities. The afternoon is free, so you could head to the ski slopes or try out more winter thrills on some optional trips. The third day offers more leisure time, perhaps enjoying an optional excursion, skiing, tobogganing or simply relaxing before heading off on an evening excursion to the Snow Village. You will have a guided tour of this unique village made entirely of snow and ice. Marvel at the intricate carvings in each room and enjoy a short Northern Lights presentation in the Ice Cinema, before heading outside for a chance to see the Aurora Borealis for yourself, weather permitting.
