IF YOU are preparing to escape to some foreign land for sun, sand and, er, salad days, or perhaps planning on doing some walking in stunning countryside, then let me recommend some summer shorts, tops and flipflops which have caught my eye, and with instant street appeal.

sp000983_source_shorts_blackI have really enjoyed wearing the SPRAYWAY SOURCE shorts. The semi-elasticated waist and buckle belt make for an exceptionally comfortable fit. They have two good-sized hand pockets with mesh inner, single zipped back pocket, plus a further zipped pocket on the left leg. Nice to the touch, the Source are made from ripstop TecWeave, with stretch abrasion-resistant areas, and are breathable, quick drying and durable. I have found them perfect for travel, general trekking or simply wearing outdoors. As someone who enjoys wearing shorts most of the year round, these will definitely be in my suitcase.

They are made from a wind-resistant, stretchy, durable woven nylon with a DWR finish, which is both rapid drying and highly breathable. regatta shoiewayManufactured in 100 per cent Coolweave cotton, the Shoreway are available in a vintage wash, and relaxed fit. Cool and comfy, they are heavier than the other shorts previewed, although the fabric features a slimmed-down construction to make travelling easier. The multi-pocket shorts include two large hand pockets, two rear button-down pockets, and two large cargo pockets, that is once you get the buttons undone. If I were you, I would leave them undone for convenience. Available in sizes 30”-44”, interestingly, a size 33” is also available. Colours range through rhubarb red, navy, nutmeg cream brown, iron grey and grape leaf green, although oddly, on some sites I could not find the blue I was sent.

second windMatch up the Shoreway shorts with Regatta’s lifestyle fit Second Wind Polo, again crafted in Coolweave cotton, making it both super soft, lightweight and comfortable. Everyone liked this in its casual stripes with a classic four-button placket and lightly ribbed collar. In sizes S-XXL,  perfect top for long summer days by the coast. I had a trawl around and actually found it on Regatta’s website reduced by 50%, so grab yourself a polo bargain.

Men's Cambia Tshirt OxfordBlueThis high performance panelled base layer is actually great for year-round walking. Unique among technical T-shirts and base layers, reversibility means two fabric faces allow you to fine-tune your comfort level simply by choosing which way out you wear the product. The smooth face of the fabric reduces pooling of perspiration to eliminate cold spots after walking, whilst the honeycomb face of the fabric provides dry comfort in cooler conditions. The Cambia has a contoured fit, is exceptionally lightweight, and offers complete freedom of movement and comfort from the soft, stretchy fabric. Sizes are S-XXL.

351102191010They call it a sandal, but it is actually a flip-flop, technically crafted using an innovative MemoryFit foam that lets your feet feel relaxed and refreshed after a day’s flopping around. There is nothing better than letting your feet breathe, and this is a striking way to do it, particularly as the MemoryFit foam top layer is designed over a short time to take your natural foot shape, offering excellent comfort. There is also a women’s MemoryFit version called the TIREE, which retails at the same price, but with a different strap design.
