SUMMER, sand, sea, sangria, screen protection. Not sunscreen on this occasion, but the screen on your phone!

phone cases-3The new X-Doria Defense Lux mobile case range offers military standard drop protection without the usual bulk of a protective cover. Available in various finishes and colours, the range has been created to withstand everyday bumps and knocks.

So, looking for top protection without compromising on style, I have been checking out a couple of cases from the new range, starting with the Defense H2O iPhone case, which boasts complete screen and cover protection against dirt, dust and water down to two metres for up to an hour. Should I happen to drop it in the shallow waters of the Med, I have that amount of time to snorkel for it amongst the sand and shells.

Retailing at £59, the Defense H20 is available in black or white, and boasts a built-in screen cover, protective bumper and military-graded drop testing. An oversized raised lip protects the screen from surface scratches. In the rear, clear polycarbonate protects the phone without covering it up. A simple snap-on construction means no tools are required.

The case combines hard polycarbonate, soft rubber and anodised aluminium to form excellent protection. The use of machined metal instead of plastic provides military-level drop protection in a slim, pocketable and premium offering, which has been drop tested to survive 6.6’ (2m) drops on concrete, not that I was brave enough to try that one.
